This project turned a horribly outdated fireplace into the centrepiece of the entire house.

I refinished the existing brass doors to match the new concept.

The tiles surrounding the fireplace were the clients choice. I would likely have gone for something with a little more character but the downlighting makes them look great at night.

The clients requested that the new wall to wall hearth to be finished in a solid colour. I thought a more variegated natural concrete look would have been much more striking.

The left side features three huge drawers on the bottom.

Don't you just hate those rickety fireplace tool stands? I know I think they are an eyesore. Here's my solution.

This open space on the right will likely house photos, books or a small audio system.
